I am a first year student studying Climate and environmental sustainability.
My challenge
Use public transport, take shorter showers and conserve water while showering.
During my challenge, I don’t think I’ve created any ripple effects in others, as most people already get the bus to and from college.
Besides that, I’ve learned that most change happens slowly and gradually, and thus you must be patient when it comes to change, as it doesn’t just happen overnight. It takes time and effort. As well as that, change/changes in an individual can indirectly create change in others around them, which can then lead to further and more widespread positive change in communities and in turn, society.
Hi Amy. Thanks for being so honest about your experience taking public transport over the last 30 days. It's interesting that you identified as a person who "finds the flaw" in things to avoid change. Recognising this in yourself now hopefully will allow you to move beyond them and look at the positives in what you or someone else is doing when those background conversations happen again. What are you left with after these 30 days of change? Do you feel that the learnings from this challenge will have a lasting impact in your life and in others lives around you? Can this support pro-environment and pro-climate actions? Looking forward to continue reading your final blogs. Darren Respond
