During this challenge my family and friends have been supportive and haven’t had anything too negative to say about me cutting out meat. When I told a coworker that I was going vegetarian she seemed interested. However I don’t think going vegetarian has influenced anyone I’ve talked to to change their own eating habits. While they’re supportive they aren’t that keen to try it themselves. I haven’t been pushing people for reasons as I don’t want to come off as forceful or annoying but over the next few weeks I think I should make more of an effort to talk about why I’m doing this challenge and see if they would ever try it themselves.

Darren Clarke commented on Day 12: influence 4 years agoHi Sarah. It's great to hear that things are going well on your experiment. You seem to be starting conversations with others. This is often the hardest part of change - striking up conversations, as it makes you justify to someone why you are doing what you are doing. It's fantastic that your family are supportive. This is crucial when we are trying to change habits and norms as you've probably noticed. When I started eating a plant-based diet I got some negative reactions. I still get the same reactions today and I find that I need to explain my choices all of the time, so don't be discouraged. These conversations are important as they allow people to see the value in change. I decided to go vegan because of one such conversation and several other friends have gone vegetarian/vegan because of me so you matter more than you think. Looking forward to continue reading your blog, especially once you start to strike up some conversations. Darren Respond
