this challenge has so far been interesting and fun to do. I am happy with my decision to do the vegetarian diet Monday to Friday as it has allowed me to get used to it more without having cravings for meat. It allows reduces some stress on my parents who try to plan the weekly food shop and what meals to have. If I do have any cravings for meat I know that if I stick to my plan that I can «treat» myself to it at the weekend.
I have yet to meet up with my friends outside of college so they still do not know that I have gone vegetarian. I don’t think this will be a major shock as they know that I had previously reduced my meat intake and as some of my other friends are vegetarian, they are used to it. I find that I follow the crowd when agreeing on places to eat. This was easier before as I would of had more options on what to eat. Now that my diet has changed I will have to speak up if I notice a place does not have anything suitable for me. However most places now do have a larger selection of vegetarian options so this shouldn’t be a big problem. I’ll just have to wait and see.

Darren Clarke commented on Day 10: Entry 3 4 years agoHi Eoghan. Great to see that the experiment has been going well so far. Having some ready meals at the beginning seems to have at least allowed you to transition to being vegetarian on weekdays. As your parents and you can probably attest when doing food shopping, sometimes a little structure can go a long way when you are implementing changes in your life. It's interesting that you chose chicken on your pizza without even considering it. The autopilot switch can sometimes be hard to switch off but it's great that you recognised how your habits influence your choices. I'm interested to see how your friends react when you tell them about your experiment. How has your family reacted to your challenge? Also, well done on embracing change and for recognising the importance of social aspects of change. Looking forward to continuing reading your posts. P.S. If you're looking for vegan recipes I've posted some on my blog page. I'll post more if they are useful. Darren Respond
