It’s now day 10 of this challenge and I find it becomes increasingly difficult each day .
Up until now I’ve been avoiding huying anything from the shops because absolutely everything is wrapped in plastic. Instead I’ve been using what I have in my fridge already and making up recipes , but now I’ve ran out of food so I have to face going to the shop and hunting for something to eat that’s not wrapped in plastic.
Most plastic free products are loose vegetables and fruits so I’m going to have to learn to make sauces from scratch and boil rice in a pot instead of cooking it in the microwave.
I’ve also bought glass containers for when I build up the courage to go to the butcher for meat instead of Tesco.
I’m excited to take this next step of interacting with more people in my community but I’m also nervous , I don’t know what their reactions will be .
Hopefully it will all be positive feedback and maybe I’ll inspire others who see me taking on this challenge!

Darren Clarke commented on Day 10: Day 10 4 years agoHi Gwenaelle. Avoiding using single use plastics and non-recyclable products can be a challenge sometimes. It's strange and sometimes frustrating that some products are plastic-free and others are less so. It's amazing how something perceived as being relatively straightforward and simple can be anything but simple when we try to make changes in our lives. I know there are some in the class who are undertaking a similar sustainability challenge. Have you had a chance to talk to them about your experience? Please let me know how things go once you start to have conversations with people about your experiment. I'd be very interested in hearing about it. Looking forward to continuing to read your updates over the coming weeks. Darren Respond
