By day 13 my challenge is starting to become easier as I’ve began to plan my day and how I am going to get from A to B. This week has been the best so far for me, I have spent a substantial amount of time walking to me destination. The time a spend walking is not only good for sustainability but also for my own mental and physical health. My walks into the city or to the Glasnevin campus have become enjoyable rather than a chore. When I return home to Kilkenny for the weekends I try to encourage my family to walk instead of using the car but my brother doesn’t quite agree with the extra exercise yet.

Darren Clarke commented on Day 13: Day 13 4 years agoHi Sean. Well done on reaching the half way point of your experiment and for managing to embrace it by not taking any form of public transport. It's also fantastic to hear that you've been talking to others and trying to influence their behaviours too - talking about change is one of the key aspects to influencing others as otherwise we can become complicit to reinforcing the unsustainable systems that are already in place e.g. private cars, some forms of public transport etc. Given you're embracing the experiment I'm wondering if you have you ever wanted to stand up for something in the past (environmental cause / other cause), but didn’t? What stopped you and why did you give up? Looking forward to reading your posts for the last few weeks. Darren Respond
