I want to say well done to everyone for taking part in this challenge. It might be the end of this 30-day challenge, but we have a long way to complete our goal. Thank you from the team for helping me and motivating me to keep going. I appreciate all the responses and comments. I will say that the past 30 days have been exciting, and I have learned a lot about myself and the environment. I want to include more challenges in my daily life like taking public transport, reducing plastic waste, maybe being on a plant-based diet for at least three days a week. Staring slowly like this might become a habit, which is good because it will be done without knowing later in the future.
Thank you again everyone for participating with me in this sustainability challenge, and I am looking forward to what might come later in this course.
Never in my life knew that I would be vegetarian for one month, and here I am at the end of my journey. I feel like I achieved an impossible mission. I would not say I am thoroughly proud because I failed to follow some parts during this challenge, but that is okay. They say you learn from your mistakes, and I did. The real question is will I continue doing this? My answer is maybe. I cannot promise that I will entirely give up meat because it is impossible, but I might consider it in the future. I will make sure to incorporate more plant-based foods into my diet because they are delicious. This week Tuesday, I went to the other campus to meet some of my friends, and on my way, I stopped by to get some food. As I entered and searched through the menu, I asked the person to tell me which is vegetarian; he said they only have chips available. I was concerned if the chips were entirely vegetarian because sometimes they would fry it in an animal-based fat or fry all foods in the same substance. It is disappointing to see local fast food places with inferior vegetarian options. I hope to see better improvement in the future. I told the person about my challenge and how I am only consuming plant-based foods, and he asked me why I was doing this. I began to explain the reason. I saw that he was not interested, so I just left after I bought a drink. I don’t know if that was a ripple, but I did communicate about something I do not do soo often with food stores. I learned that not many people are ready to change, and that is okay because I have been in their shoes too.
Hello everyone,
Day 24-
What has been the most memorable moment is sharing my difficulties with people who are also doing this challenge. This helps me to learn from their experience and guide me through my difficult times. It’s good to know that I’m not alone in this challenge. To be honest most challenging moments is to remember to write a post. Other participants are doing really well and it is good to see their side of story on the sustainable challenge. I learned more in one month about our environment then my whole school life. I can not imagine what it will be like in 3 years time. I am super excited to stretch my knowledge of our planet and become more confident on spreading this realization around the globe.
Hello,
How’s everyone doing? My past few 18 days have been challenging. I’ve realised small changes around me. For example my family is now more supportive and understanding of the challenge I’m participating . I must say my mom was disapproving and questioning at first ,of why I am doing this, but now she has fully seen that I’m taking this sustanabilty challenge seriously and I do care for the outcomes. Sometimes she would help me cook and prepare meals for my self and taking part of learning more of what I’m into. I definitely agree that this challenge made our bond stronger. I also see small changes within my friends aswell, whenever we go out to eat they would also order vegeterian option foods so I don’t feel left out. I’m grateful to have people like this around me because this keeps me going to continue what I’m doing and feeling proud of the changes that I’m doing.
Hello everyone,
I’m back again :).
Things have been interesting so far.
It nearly has been 2 weeks of doing the sustainability challenge. What I’ve noticed recently is that I got used to doing it, it doesn’t even feel like I’m eating a vegeterian diet. I have spoken to few people about my journey, but mainly they noticed when i say i’m vegeterian, so they kept asking questions like why and when did you start. That’s when I have to explain what I’m doing and why I am doing it. I didn’t really notice people being influenced by it. They rather seemed interested and impressed by the challenge itself. I must say reading everyone posts have greatly motivated me to keep going and do my best. We can do it! Best of luck to everyone, we are almost there :).
Hi,
This week went by fast! I would have to say it wasn’t easy, I had to be kept reminded not to eat any meat based products. Sometimes I forget, but luckily I didn’t.
After this week ended, I realized that I feel more healthy and lightweight and I also have gained more energy from eating plant based diet.
I guess I have to say that I’ve improved in some skills from doing this challenge, such as my cooking abilities got a bit better, as I found many delicious recipes online and cookbooks, as you can see above that’s one of my favourite dish from this week.
As well as I started to see the interest my family was taking, even my friends were curios too. This made me happy that people were interested in what I was doing and asking questions based on this challenge and how it affects us.
The hardest part of this challenge was being cautious of the food you are eating, for example some packaged foods contains hidden gelatine like mousses or marshmallows and jellies, but I got used to it after 4 days later.
After all, I am happy to say that I do see small changes of me and around me.
Very excited to see what’s next.:)
Hi,
I chose a vegeterian diet as it contributes to a cleanest and safer environment and better health while causing less pain and suffering for innocent animals.
Now days people overconsume meat based diet on a daily bases which can affect the sustainably of our earth. Eating less meat leads to fewer farmed animals, which consume a lot of resources to raise e.g. water, time and space. Fun Fact: Livestock as a whole is estimated to be responsible for around 18% of global greenhouse gas emissions especially beef. It’s estimated that beef requires 28 times more land, 6 times more fertilizer and 11 times more water.
What I think will be difficult of doing this challenge is seeing my family eating non vegeterian diet, they do support me which is enough to keep me going. The easy part is I think the meals doesn’t take long to cook or make, which is more exciting as I can research new recipes online. I admire everyone effort on doing this challenge and I’m looking forward to see the end results. Maybe I’ll convince my family on doing this challenge with me 🙂
