Hello,
It’s been quite a while since the last time I posted, but i think I can catch up with all the infrormation that I’ve gathered over the last week and a half!
For the past week Ive been really trying to focus on the ways that the society can limit or prevent us from our sustainable choices. Apart from my persononal biggest issue in zero waste shopping , which is the big increase in the cost, I’ve also noticed the lack of recyclable bins around my local area and even my student building when I do need to use plastic. I haven’t yet discovered sustainable alternatives for all the products that i need to buy (like bread for example). I havent been able to find bread without any plastic yet even when i go into a bakery, but next time I’m going to try to ask if there’s any other alternatives.
I am trying my best to be aware of unnecesary plastic on food and most times I am succesful in avoiding waste, But i did notice as the time goes by it’s been getting harder to keep it up, especially when my day is already busy and i dont have the enegry to walk a big distance. It’s especially hard when I’m travelling to my family or boyfriend, where I usually have to give in to the supermarket food as there is not enough sustainable shops in their local areas.
Despite the hardships, i did notice little changes in my habits which make it more natural for me to avoid food packed with plastic. I am quite used to buying local farmers food now and it always keeps me excited to buy food that I know is locally produced.
I’m hoping to see some improvements in myself in the next 10 days of the challange and hopefully find out more about what i can do to be more sustainable : )

cCHANGE Team commented on Day 20: Over half-way there 4 years agoHi Natalia, Thank you for a great update! You are doing so well with the challenge. Congratulations for keeping it up, even through the challenges you mention. I really admire your persistance. I also admire how your awareness of the systems connected to your challenge is expanding. You talk about the increased cost, the lack of options to dispose of plastic, and the lack of alternatives for some products. Why is it this way? It's so impressive that you are going to ask about alternatives for your bread. Can't wait to hear what they say. I wonder how the others in this challenge who are doing a plastic challenge are solving the bread issue? Maybe they have some tips. Do you know why the student building you are in doesn't have recycling bins? Do they follow a sustainability strategy somewhere? It might be interesting to ask someone about that too. Have you inspired people around you? Or are they curious about what you are doing and why? Maybe your challenge affects them. I am looking forward to your next update. You doing really well! Best, Leonie at cCHANGE :) Respond
