So far it has been eye-opening.
Doing this challenge makes you realise that everything is wrapped up in plastic even things that shouldn’t be. It has made me wonder why some vegetables are subjected to being in plastic. like cucumber or apples. It is quite worrying that in this day and age we are still doing this, its really not a necessity. It is definitely making this challenge harder. Even passing by a shop and looking at all the fizzy drinks, sweets and many foods that I cannot buy. I am definitely saving money and becoming healthier by not buying all these unhealthy foods wrapped up in plastic. But it is a challenge when healthy foods are, I am going to go to a farmers market to compare. Im also trying to get my parents to do this challenge with me as they buy all the groceries. I told them to only buy packaging that can be recyclable and to buy less products that are in plastic. for me personally I have realised that I unnecessarily buy things in the shop that I do not need. it comes down to your needs and wants and this challenge is highlighting what those are for me in my life.
next time I go into a shop I will question do I really need this?
best of luck to everyone in their challenges!!

cCHANGE Team commented on Day 3: Not buying any single use plastic 4 years agoHi Isabel, and welcome to Ripples of Change cCHALLENGE! My name is Heidi and I am part of the cCHANGE team that will be following your challenge and will support you, and perhaps offer you new perspectives, over the next 30 days. This challenge is great and so important. We use and waste way too much plastic in the world. Amazing to hear your reflections and that it is an eye-opening experience already at day 3! You raise some really important questions here, why are we still doing this and is it really necessary with all that plastic wrapped around everything? I am looking forward to hear more from you, Isabel! I am curious to hear about your trip to the farmer’s market and your observations. It is also great that you bring in your parents – that means your change experiment is already starting to create ripple effects. Best, Heidi Respond
