Has this experiment been how you expected?
I didn’t have too many expectations for this challenge, I’m an open-minded person and like trying new things so I throw myself into things without much thought. When I picked reducing waste as my challenge I certainly didn’t think it was going to be as hard as it has turned out. There really is plastic on everything and there usually the cheaper option too.
When do you like to follow along with what the group is doing?
I find the weekend was much harder to keep to the challenge as I was “out and about” more and therefore wasn’t properly prepared, what I found the hardest so far was on Sunday when I was slightly hungover 😅 and made a trip to my local convenience store, This was my first real collapse of the challenge so far as I think everything i bought in the store had plastic on it because I was in a negative frame of mind ie tired and hungover and couldn’t have cared less about waste at that time🙈 so I went along with the crowd (my friends). I suppose you could say it was a learning point, that I probably need to be more prepared in future and not just take the easy option.

Darren Clarke commented on Day 11: Expectations 4 years agoHi Thomas. Great honest in this post. It's interesting that your talk about autopilot in different contexts i.e. the weekend and weekdays. Don't worry about letting things slip at the weekend. Did the fact that you bought plastic at the weekend make it harder to get back into your experiment at the beginning of the week? How have conversations with others gone in the last week about your challenge? Have you influenced others or have you been influenced by others (apart from your friends during the hangover!)? Looking forward to hearing about how your journey continues. Darren Respond

Tomás Reilly commented on Day 11: Expectations 4 years agoHi Darren I was able to get straight back into the swing of things on Monday re the lack of plastic as I still have all the options I’d bought in my weekly shop at hand (shows the importance of planning) as I said I think Sunday was more of a mindset slip than a practical one. Regarding influence on others yes I’ve definitely had an influence as I live with my family and I was the 1 that done the shopping for the whole house, but I also think In talking about the challenge that it’s definitely made others think about their choices more too, they maybe aren’t being as strict as I’m trying to be but it’s a start 👊🏻 Tomàs Respond
